Baghdad Co. for Gas Turbines Ltd., has won a contract worth $129.9 million to build a 500-megawatt power station in Najaf governorate in southern Iraq as part of the government's efforts to address acute power shortages.
The project, which will be carried out on a turnkey basis. Turbines for the station have been bought already by the Iraqi government from General Electric Co. (GE).
"We look forward to deliver state of the art power project with the support of the ministry of electricity and Najaf Governorate," said Mumtaz Rushdi, Baghdad Company's managing director.
He added his company has executed some 25 projects in Iraq since 2004.
